Was there a class or club that influenced your career path?
There were several teachers who encouraged me to immerse myself into reading fundamentally, which further sparked my desire to become a writer. My 2nd grade teacher at Graham Elementary gave me my first chapter book. There, the media teacher, Guy Gerace, hosted Accelerated Reader competitions every year with a day-long awards ceremony. At AB Davis Middle School (now STEAM) my 7th grade ELA teacher (Mrs. Oliver) had the best classroom library, ever and also had us memorizing/reciting poems every week. In high school (MVHS), I took a journalism class where the teacher would let me recite my own poetry weekly because he knew I was passionate about it.
