    All Means All: Providing Enrichment, Intervention and Special Education Services that Support Students' Growth and Success The session will provide an overview to parents and caregivers of the continuum of instructional supports and related services that students with disabilities will receive to ensure their academic success, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This hands-on session will also examine how the district plans to handle individual education plan meetings and evaluations. November 5, 2020 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

  • District Shares PPE Readiness Plan Ahead of First Phase of Reopening on Nov. 16

    As the Mount Vernon City School District prepares to welcome students back into the classroom as part of a phased reopening beginning on Nov. 16, members of the district administration shared information on its health and safety measures at the Oct. 20. school board meeting. Superintendent for Buildings and Grounds Michael Pelliccio presented the district’s multi-faceted approach to its reentry preparedness at the recent meeting.

    The Mount Vernon City School District will be well represented in a nationwide webinar at 5 p.m. today, Thursday, October 29th! Dr. Kenneth R. Hamilton, Superintendent of Schools, and Dr. Jeff Gorman, Deputy Superintendent of Schools, will teach other school district leaders and teachers by showing them the positive developments in the Mount Vernon schools.

  • Reopening plans call for three-tiered opening starting in November

    The Mount Vernon City School District is preparing for students to begin returning to school buildings in a three-tiered opening in November that will give Pre-K to grade 8 students four days a week of face-to-face instruction in the classroom.

  • High school athletes returning to fields and courts

    High school sports are beginning to return in Mount Vernon. Five school district fall sports teams began practicing on September 29th. Boys and girls soccer teams, boys and girls cross country teams and the girls tennis team are all back – totaling approximately 90 student athletes.

  • Virtual Parent Learning Module Scheduled for Oct. 15

    The next Mount Vernon City School District Virtual Parent Learning Module is Thursday, October 15th. It is titled: “What's All The Fuss About-Information For Families To Support Virtual Learning?” This fun and interactive session will discuss the select strategies and techniques for families to support virtual, including crucial tips for families on avoiding virtual learning burnout. In this hands-on session, facilitators will expose parents/caregivers to the different digital tools that students will use during their instructional program and provide resources to complement these platforms.   • CPR certification training scheduled for Oct. 24

    Mount Vernon residents looking to learn more about life-saving CPR certification are welcome to take the Mount Vernon City School District's Virtual CPR Certification class from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 24th. The program is free and is non-staff training. Those who take the course will receive a CPR community certificate (not for use by healthcare providers) by email. Participants must sign up by emailing landerson1@mtvernoncsd.org.
