Glow Up for the Test: Edward Williams Hosts Masked Singer-Inspired Pep Rally

Edward Williams School recently energized students in grades 3 through 6 with a lively State Test Pep Rally designed to motivate, encourage, and reduce test-related anxiety as students prepare for the upcoming state assessments.

The event, organized by the school’s PBIS Committee, transformed the auditorium into a glowing celebration with a vibrant Glow Party atmosphere. Neon lights, music, and high energy filled the room as students were reminded that preparation, confidence, and effort are the keys to success.

To kick off the rally, Principal Greg Casey warmly welcomed students and shared practical advice to help them perform at their best. He encouraged students to eat a healthy dinner, get a good night’s rest, and arrive at school early and ready to learn. His message reinforced the importance of taking care of both mind and body during testing season.

Adding a meaningful touch of peer encouragement, second-grade students created posters filled with positive messages and words of support. These posters were distributed to testing students, reminding them that the entire school community is rooting for their success.

One of the most exciting moments of the rally was the “Masked Singer” style performance, where three teachers appeared on stage disguised in inflatable costumes to surprise and entertain the students. The performances had students cheering, laughing, and dancing along as they tried to guess the identities behind the costumes.

Ms. Burgos performed “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” instantly getting the crowd on their feet.

Ms. Flowers delivered a high-energy performance of “APT,” sending excitement through the crowd.

The biggest surprise came from Ms. Simon, who dressed as a hippopotamus and performed “Big Guy” from the SpongeBob soundtrack. Students were unable to guess her identity, making her the winner of the challenge and a crowd favorite.

The rally also focused on emotional wellness. Ms. Tiffany LeFever, Assistant Principal, delivered encouraging words reminding students to do their best, believe in themselves, and not let anxiety take over. She emphasized that effort matters and that each student is capable of success.

The pep rally concluded with a powerful moment of appreciation as students gave a standing ovation to their teachers, including classroom teachers, ENL staff, resource teachers, and reading specialists. The applause honored the dedication and hard work of the educators who have supported and prepared students every step of the way.

The Test Pep Rally was a joyful reminder that at Edward Williams School, students are supported academically, emotionally, and wholeheartedly, every day and especially during moments that matter most.
