Guidance Center of Westchester shares information with students at Rebecca Turner Academy
Students at Rebecca Turner Academy have been engaging in a series of “Preparing for Life” workshops hosted by School Counselor, Jennifer Goire-Peralta. The first workshop focused on introducing various post-secondary opportunities and pathways. Many students expressed interests in entrepreneurship, while others are considering careers in trades such as cosmetology, HVAC and construction.
In efforts to continue to help students prepare for their future, RTA is collaborating with the Guidance Center of Westchester to create a fluid pathway from graduation to employment. Advisors from the Center for College and Careers visited students on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, to explain the intake process and how they can get started on their future by taking advantage of their trade preparation programs and multitude of services.
RTA scholars have also shown interest in pursuing careers in business, education and nursing. To help further ignite these interests, students will be visiting Rockland Community College and the University of Mount Saint Vincent in November. Students will have the opportunity to tour the campus and participate in an information session. They will even have the chance to start the application process on the spot. At RTA, efforts on helping scholars prepare for their future is a daily occurrence!
