Mount Vernon veterans receive haircuts from MVHS Barbering and Cosmetology students

Mount Vernon veterans walked out of Mount Vernon High School full of gratitude after a day of haircuts and makeovers from the Career and Technical Education Barbering and Cosmetology students at Mount Vernon High School on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

The CTE Department partnered with the New York State Department of Veterans Services and the Mount Vernon Veterans Agency to give back to veterans within the city. This event provided veterans with the opportunity to get their hair cut for free by students training to become barbers and cosmetologists. While saying “thank you” and giving back to veterans, students were able to practice their skills learned in class.

Veterans represented various military branches and shared stories of their rich and patriotic military service to our country during their visit at MVHS.

“It was wonderful to watch those who served us get served by our amazing CTE students,” said Director of CTE Brian Simmons.
