Culinary Arts students compete in NYS Burger Battle and receive scholarships
This past Saturday, Culinary Arts seniors Raymond Gardner Jr. and Egypt-Simone Robinson competed in the New York State Burger Battle competition hosted by the New York Restaurant Association (NYSRA) - ProStart. This was the first competition for both seniors, and they both received a $2,000 renewable scholarship to Johnson & Wales University!
Raymond placed 4th out of 30th competitors. Mount Vernon High School was the only school represented from Westchester County. Both students received extremely high praises from the judges, which comprised chefs from around New York State restaurants and universities. Juniors Staci-Ann Willis and Asher Nicholson were there to attend NYSRA-ProStart festivities and learn about the competitions in order to prepare for the Management and Culinary competition next year.
