Lincoln School families stuck around after school for fun activities with their children, as the school hosted their Winter Literacy Celebration last Wednesday. Teachers volunteered to support the event, and student ambassadors greeted families at the door. 

“We have parents here who are playing literacy based games with their children, and they're having some fun too!” said Assistant Principal Kristin Cipriano. 

Families were served hot cocoa as they played a number of word and grammar-based games including Word Twist and Bingo. 

The celebration was a Title I event organized in conjunction with the school’s parent liaison Maura Gutierrez. Each student was able to pick one free book from the back of the cafeteria, and families visited the annual holiday book fair upstairs to shop for more books. 

Lincoln School also invited community partners to share resources with families. Huntington Learning Center, the Triple P Positive Parenting Program, and Altacare attended the event to connect with parents, and Altacare donated book bags full of items for fire victims at the school.
