Grimes School students complete research projects on Lunar New Year and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Grimes School sixth grade students have been diving deep into research, with projects recently completed for a Lunar New Year Learning Showcase and New York State’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. online showcase. For their Lunar New Year projects, sixth graders learned to use primary sources, databases, and how to paraphrase and cite sources. Students that successfully completed their projects and met the criteria on the rubric then presented to 2nd-4th graders and later participated in a catered Chinese lunch.

For the NYS Martin Luther King Jr. online showcase, many Grimes scholars wrote essays and created artwork. Researching from both nonfiction books and databases, 6th graders edited and revised their work so they could capture Dr. King's legacy.
