Grimes School holds the top ENL classroom in Mount Vernon in the Learning A-Z Reading Challenge
Scholars of Mrs. Joycelyn Alfreida Rios' class at Grimes School were smiling ear to ear with prizes, treats and personal awards after being recognized for reading the most books in the Learning A-Z Challenge on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
Mrs. Rios’ class read an impressive 719 books during the challenge. Earlier in the school year, Learning A-Z launched a reading book challenge for those who are learning English as a new language to encourage them to read more.
“The Learning A-Z Program is a fun, interactive curriculum in which the students love to learn from,” said Mrs. Rios. “Teaching the students from this curriculum Monday-Friday, during the Early morning Academy and Saturday Academy has been very beneficial! The proof is in the results!”
