Grimes School holds musical assembly
On Monday, November 4, 2024, the Music Team, a technology-based music program that offers instruction in music production, DJing and song recording, conducted an assembly for Grimes School students. Marc and Dayne from the Music Team led the assembly that focused on the fundamental skills of a modern DJ (disc jockey) and exposed Grimes students to the technology that DJs use to play music. The assembly also highlighted that becoming a DJ can be a lucrative profession.
The Music Team provides activities that include weekly lessons, ongoing individual evaluation and a group showcase at the end of the course. During this program, participants will learn all the required skills for DJing, music production, and song creation. This program provides a unique experience for self-expression under the guidance of high-quality mentors. Professional DJs and music producers help participants understand many virtual instruments' sounds, range, effects, and capabilities. The Music Team curriculum reflects the intent of the musical standards of learning. The music technology curriculum is cumulative, progressing in complexity from grade to grade. In each curriculum, course content is expressed as instructional objectives organized into five topics: 1) Music Literacy, 2) Performance 3) History and Cultural Context 4) Analysis, Evaluation & Critique 5) Music Aesthetics.
Through music instruction, students acquire essential knowledge and skills that include the ability to think critically, solve problems resourcefully, make informed judgments, work cooperatively within groups, appreciate different cultures, use their imagination, and be creative.
