Graham students take part in project-based learning surrounding the Industrial Revolution
On Friday, December 6, 2024, students in Kristen Ciallella's eighth-grade class at Graham School engaged in project-based learning focused on the Industrial Revolution. Through this project, students examined a collection of photographs from 1760 - 1840 and wrote down any questions and observations. They were then organized into groups and conducted background research on the Industrial Revolution, organized their findings, and wrote synthesis statements.
Student’s statements followed the template “Before reading, I thought… After reading, I now think…”
After writing their synthesis statements, students explored readings on new inventions, responded to discussion questions, and evaluated the Industrial Revolution's impact on the United States. To culminate the project, students created an annotated map to illustrate everything they have learned throughout the project-based learning exercise.
