Superintendent’s Advisory Council concludes for the year

Superintendent’s Advisory Council concludes for the year

The Elementary and Secondary Superintendent’s Advisory Council's met for their first combined meeting on Wednesday to discuss the results from the survey they worked on diligently this year and contribute to the School-Parent Compact for Achievement.

The mission of the Advisory Council is to gather students from various schools to get their input and concerns about curriculum, school leadership, social-emotional learning, instruction, and other topics. The group works year-long to create a survey to go out to students to address these issues.

“The results from the student survey will be shared with District administration to ensure that students’ voices are a part of the decision-making process for the upcoming school year,” said Dr. Jamal Doggett, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Administration.

A School-Parent Compact for Achievement is an agreement that parents, students and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach or exceed grade-level standards.

To close out and celebrate this year’s Superintendent’s Advisory Council, students played games and exchanged phone numbers. These students from different schools have built relationships, and they want to maintain those relationships as they continue their education.

“’I’m very proud to work with this group and give them the leadership experience that they deserve,” Dr. Doggett continued. “We are going to use their input to help us make better decisions, with student voices in mind.”
