Parent Resource Center continuing monthly series of workshops
Parent liaisons are continuing their monthly series of workshops at the Parent Resource Center (PRC) with the We Bloom Together workshop in celebration of Earth Day on Thursday, April 10, at 11 a.m. Parent liaisons also offer daily assistance at the PRC on school days to share how parents can support their children.
The PRC offers various supports for families, and it is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Workshops are also shared on the District website in “The Billboard” on the homepage and on the Parent Resource Center page. You can also visit the Parent Liaisons page to see who the parent liaison at your school is and find contact information.
Supports offered at the PRC:
- Sharing games and activities that parents can bring home and do with their children
- Highlighting what is happening in the District each month
- Helping parents with job research and applications. A presenter visits every month to assist with resumes and finding jobs
- Parents can visit the PRC to use the computers and printers
- Parent liaisons help with translation and applications, specifically for registration
- Parents can learn about college applications, financial aid, loans and post-graduate programs to help their children
- Assisting parents with information about physicals, vaccines and the closest clinics that are free of charge
- Directing parents to the correct contact point for other inquiries, whether it internal or external to the District
- Follow-ups with parents to see if they need additional assistance
For Autism Awareness Month, information about how to support students with autism is also available at the PRC. Some methods that you can learn about include cooperative sports, creative activities, sensory integration and unstructured play.
Snacks, tea and coffee are always available for parents who visit the PRC to learn more about how they can support their students and themselves as a parent.
