MVCSD hold Superintendent's Day for teacher and staff development

Last Wednesday, teachers in the Mount Vernon City School District participated in professional development at Superintendent’s Conference Day. Each school was given a half-day, and all teachers and staff completed an online or in-person workshop and training session.

Every two months, the District sets up superintendent’s conference days to give teachers the time to come together, grow, and learn and develop new skills. Wednesday marked the last meeting of this school year. Teachers and staff participated in evaluations and skill-building lessons and learned different strategies to bring their best to their students for the remainder of the year.

"Today concludes our year-long series of professional development supporting the district's literacy rollout plan addressing the Science of Reading and writing focus,” said Dr. Jamal Doggett, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Administration.  “We will continue to build the instructional capacity of our staff to further equip them with the resources necessary to educate our students and increase student outcomes.  Thank you to all the workshop facilitators for leading our year-long workshops and our teaching and support staff for their participation and feedback provided throughout the year."
