Greenburgh Nature Center visits Mount Vernon City School District to teach students about birds

Scholars from Mount Vernon Leadership Academy and Mount Vernon Honor Academy flocked to their classrooms for a special lesson with live birds brought by the Greenburgh Nature Center on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

“At the nature center we have a variety of rescued animals and some of them are the birds that we have here today,” said Andrew Michalski, manager of living collections and naturalist educator at Greenburgh Nature Center. “This was an opportunity for us to show the students here some live birds that they have been learning about and to get a real hands-on experience.”

Students were greeted by various birds as a part of their ongoing nature lessons. Students were able to interact with an owl, dove and hen while learning about all the things that make each bird unique.
