CTE Automotive Program signs two articulation agreements with community college and trade school
The Mount Vernon City School District’s Career and Technical Education Automotive Program has secured two articulation agreements, where students can transfer credits to a post-secondary institution, in the past four weeks. Students will now be able to earn college credits for Lincoln Technical Institute and Rockland Community College through the program.
“Nothing could better symbolize college and career readiness than a respected trade school and a local college both awarding and rewarding our Automotive CTE Program with first-time articulation agreements,” said Brian Simmons, Director of CTE. "This demonstrates not only how respected and appealing our CTE programs are to partners and employers, but also how many divergent and lucrative opportunities await our students in the world."
These agreements provide students with an opportunity to have an option between college and trade school for transferring their credits when deciding on their postsecondary education.
“These new opportunities for college credits, and the continued growth of our CTE programs, are promising for our students,” said Acting Superintendent Dr. K. Veronica Smith. “We want to provide students with a comprehensive education that prepares them for an expansive set of careers, and articulation agreements with both a college and a trade school show that these programs do just that.”
