Register now for Winter Sports - Season begins November 17
All High School students in grades 9 through 12 who are interested in trying out for the following sports should sign up immediately through the District website at "Athletics":
- Basketball
- Wrestling
- Indoor Track
- Boys Swimming
- Cheerleading
The season begins November 17; sign up today to make sure your Health Office clears you for participation.
Also, all grade 7 and 8 students interested in basketball should sign up beginning November 3, as their season begins in early December.

There will be a food pantry at Denzel Washington School of the Arts at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18. There will also be a food pantry at Graham School at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19. Bring your own bag and choose from essentials such as dairy, vegetables, grains, protein and fruits while supplies last.

Mount Vernon Knights Boys Basketball will host their 30th Annual Basketball Brunch at 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 30, at The Bayou, 580 Gramatan Avenue, Mount Vernon. Tickets are $55 per person and will be available at the door. Meet and greet the community, come hear from the entire team, and enjoy some amazing food! Proceeds will help the Knights kick off their 2025-2026 season. The brunch will honor MVHS Principal Dr. Pauline Pearce and Mount Vernon legend and basketball state champion Ricky Burton (Class of 1981).

The Mount Vernon City School District was appointed an academic monitor by the State Education Department and will hold a public hearing regarding the Monitors Findings Report. The hearing will take place from 5:30PM to 7:00PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in the Board Room at the Education Center, 165 N. Columbus Avenue, Mount Vernon, New York, 10553.
Public hearings will be livestreamed on the District website and Facebook.
