  • Parent Parties Workshop, April 3 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am; Explore the fun parents and children can have in the kitchen or garden together learning about science.

  • Talk and Tea, April 9 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am; Join us for conversation and connection over tea and light refreshments. Learn about the support and resources available for Autism at the PRC.

  • We Bloom Together, April 10 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm; Join our Earth Day celebration! Participate in fun activities such as growing a plant from scratch and Earth Day handprint art.

  • Westchester Latinos Unidos, April 23 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm; Join us for reading aloud with the Easter Bunny and connection over tea and light refreshments. Coloring books and surprises will be given to families.

  • Chase Bank Financial Workshop, April 24 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm; Valuable Money Lessons to Teach Your Kids: Join us as we share tips and activities you can teach your children to help them establish good financial habits for their entire lives.

  • Resume Writing and Job Search Essentials, April 29 from 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm; Looking for a summer job, post-graduation employment, or a new career path but not sure where to start? Learn how to work smarter not harder while navigating four key areas of the job search process: Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Job Searching Techniques, Interviewing Skills, and Professional Networking.

MVCSD arts pathway information session for 8th grade families

A special Zoom meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, for families of current 8th graders to discuss the new Individual Arts Assessment Pathway. 

The Mount Vernon City School District has received approval from the New York State Department of Education to offer a new pathway to graduation in the Arts called the Individual Arts Assessment Pathway (IAAP). This Pathway will be available at Mount Vernon High School, MV STEAM Academy, and the Denzel Washington School of the Arts for the 2025-2026 school year. 

If you are interested in finding out more about enrolling your child in an Arts Pathway, please join us for the Arts Pathway information session for the families of current 8th-grade students.

2025 Autism Acceptance Day
Districtwide Autism Acceptance Day at Benjamin Turner Academy - Tues., April 29 at 3:15 p.m.

Districtwide Autism Acceptance Day will be held at Benjamin Turner Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The free event will feature parent resources, popcorn, pizza, sensory stations and more! If you are interested in buying a shirt of donating, click here or scan the QR code. Come out to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month with the Mount Vernon City School District and the Special Education PTA!

Subsidized Bus Passes
MVCSD Offering Subsidized Bus Passes

The Mount Vernon City School District is offering subsidized Metro Cards for $145 per semester, half of the full price of $290, for all grade 7-12 students. The Metro Card is only valid on Bee-Line buses, not MTA. Cards are valid for five months, September through January and February through June. Cards are valid Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with up to four trips per day.
