MVCSD Offering Subsidized Bus Passes
The Mount Vernon City School District is offering subsidized Metro Cards for $145 per semester, half of the full price of $290, for all grade 7-12 students. The Metro Card is only valid on Bee-Line buses, not MTA. Cards are valid for five months, September through January and February through June. Cards are valid Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with up to four trips per day.

The Mount Vernon City School District is conducting a culture and climate survey in an effort to receive stakeholder feedback on the current status of the District. Incoming Superintendent of Schools Dr. Demario Strickland is inviting the Mount Vernon Community to participate in his “Let’s Talk: Conversations with Dr. Strickland” community forums. The next forum will take place at Graham School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. These discussions will serve to build trust and relationships with the community for alignment and results. Congressman George Latimer and State Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson will be inducted into the 2025 MVHS Hall of Fame. Meteorologist Elise Finch Henriques will be bestowed with this prestigious award posthumously. These trailblazers will receive their induction at Mount Vernon High School at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Tickets are $40 and can be paid by clicking here.
