MVCSD Offering Subsidized Bus Passes

The Mount Vernon City School District is offering subsidized Metro Cards for $145 per semester, half of the full price of $290, for all grade 7-12 students. The Metro Card is only valid on Bee-Line buses, not MTA. Cards are valid for five months, September through January and February through June. Cards are valid Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with up to four trips per day.

Contact Daffodil Graham at dgraham@mtvernoncsd.org, 914-358-2888, or in room 231 of Mount Vernon High School from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday. Submit cash or a money order payable to MVCSD to purchase the passes.

The Mount Vernon City School District is conducting a culture and climate survey in an effort to receive stakeholder feedback on the current status of the District. Please share your thoughts and opinions, which will help the District understand school climate needs and strengths from the perspectives of students, families and staff, especially for the beginning of incoming Superintendent Dr. Demario Strickland’s administration. Incoming Superintendent of Schools Dr. Demario Strickland is inviting the Mount Vernon Community to participate in his “Let’s Talk: Conversations with Dr. Strickland” community forums. The next forum will take place at Graham School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. These discussions will serve to build trust and relationships with the community for alignment and results. 2025 MVHS Hall of Fame Induction on June 28

Congressman George Latimer and State Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson will be inducted into the 2025 MVHS Hall of Fame. Meteorologist Elise Finch Henriques will be bestowed with this prestigious award posthumously. These trailblazers will receive their induction at Mount Vernon High School at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Tickets are $40 and can be paid by clicking here.
