The Mount Vernon City School District is holding a town hall meeting on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 6 p.m., at Graham School. A revised school building configuration proposal will be discussed for a compromise and cost-effective model. Please submit questions and/or comments in advance to contactus@mtvernoncsd.org. The Mount Vernon City School District will hold Family Fun Health and Wellness Night in the Mount Vernon High School cafeteria on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Bring the whole family to this free family and community event to participate in fun fitness activities and learn about community resources, nutrition and more! The Mount Vernon City School District and PTA Council are excited to announce the return of the MV Hidden Talent & Fashion Show, scheduled for January 10, 2025. This exciting event will showcase the incredible talents and creativity within the Mount Vernon community. The MV Hidden Talent & Fashion Show is open to all Mount Vernon K-12 students, faculty, and staff. Parents and guardians are invited to join a Zoom webinar on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 6 to 7 p.m., to review the i-Ready for Families Report, which will be going home with students in grades K-8. An i-Ready specialist will review the report alongside Dr. Satish Jagnandan, Director of Assessment, Mathematics and Science, and Marybeth Rhodes, Director of Humanities. Attend to learn more about i-Ready and ask questions regarding the program and its use at school and home. The Mount Vernon City School District is offering subsidized Metro Cards for $145 per semester, half of the full price of $290, for all grade 7-12 students. The Metro Card is only valid on Bee-Line buses, not MTA. Cards are valid for five months, September through January and February through June. Cards are valid Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. with up to four trips per day.
