In this program, children read or listen to books and can earn prizes, books and a chance to win a grand prize! It is open for infants through children entering sixth grade. Get a free gift when you register!
There will be a kickoff event from 3 to 5 p.m. on June 26, with music from celebrated performer, Graham Clarke at 3 p.m. and face painting at 4:30 p.m.

- Wonderbook Collection: Each Wonderbook is a print book with a ready-to-play audiobook inside. Helps vocabulary development, phonics, comprehension, and bilingual learning.
- Museum Passes: Free or discounted passes to more than 10 museums such as the Intrepid, Beardsley Zoo and Children’s Museum of Manhattan.
- Stream: Stream movies, TV programs, and Educational Programs. Download Audio and E-books in both English & Spanish.
- Tumblebooks: An online collection of animated, talking picture books, reading comprehension quizzes and educational games.
- Spanish and Bilingual Collection: We expanded this section.

Incoming Superintendent of Schools Dr. Demario Strickland is inviting the Mount Vernon Community to participate in his upcoming “Let’s Talk: Conversations with Dr. Strickland” community forums. The next forum will take place at Graham School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. These discussions will serve to build trust and relationships with the community for alignment and results. The discussion will be livestreamed on our Board meetings and live streams page, which can be viewed by clicking here.
There will be a mobile pantry at Cecil H. Parker School on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The Mount Vernon City School District is conducting a culture and climate survey in an effort to receive stakeholder feedback on the current status of the District. Please share your thoughts and opinions, which will help the District understand school climate needs and strengths from the perspectives of students, families and staff, especially for the beginning of incoming Superintendent Dr. Demario Strickland’s administration. Congressman George Latimer and State Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson will be inducted into the 2025 MVHS Hall of Fame. Meteorologist Elise Finch Henriques will be bestowed with this prestigious award posthumously. These trailblazers will receive their induction at Mount Vernon High School at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Tickets are $40 and can be paid by clicking here.
