Mount Vernon City School District to offer free meals to all students

All students enrolled in the Mount Vernon City School District will be able to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch free of charge in the 2022-23 school year. There will be no need to apply or pay a fee for this program.

The district will be implementing a meal certification option available to all schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.

"We are here for the students and family of Mount Vernon,” said Dr. Waveline Bennett-Conroy, superintendent of schools. “A healthy breakfast and lunch will be provided for all students, reducing food insecurity throughout the district. It is important that our scholars are focused in school and are not worrying about their next meal.”
