Book Signing Fundraiser with first Black Woman to Become a Billionaire - June 2

Sheila Johnson, the cofounder of Black Entertainment Television (BET) and the first Black woman to become a billionaire, is raising money for the Mount Vernon City School District by holding a book signing and discussion at Denzel Washington School of the Arts on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 1 to 3 p.m. Click here to buy tickets

All funds raised will support Mount Vernon City School District scholars and extracurricular and out-of-school initiatives, including after school and before school programs. General admission is $80 and includes a bookplate-signed hardcover book. VIP tickets are $100 and include a VIP reception, meal and a meet and greet with Ms. Johnson.
 

Memorial Day

This Memorial Day, we are remembering the heroes who have sacrificed for our country. Thank you to all who have served, especially those who have given their lives to protect our nation and our rights. 

Dame Dash Film Festival

The Dame Dash Film Festival will be screened at Denzel Washington School of the Arts on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 7 p.m. Students from across the country will compete for their film to be streamed on the streaming services Tubi and America Nu Network. 

Super Hero Wellness Fair

The Mount Vernon City School District is holding the Super Health and Wellness Block Party at Mount Vernon Honor Academy from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024. 

No Place for Hate Day in the MVCSD

The Mount Vernon City School District will hold its first No Place for Hate (NPFH) Day on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Families are encouraged to walk with their children to school in support of acceptance, tolerance, allyship, diversity, equity and inclusion. The District is also asking everyone to wear a white, maroon or NPFH shirt on this day.
