ARP-ESSER Community Survey

ARP-ESSER Community Survey

The American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ARP-ESSER III) provides over $9 billion to New York State. The Mount Vernon City School District received $33.5 million.
To date, the funds were used to:

1. Fund Elementary/Middle School Summer Learning and Enrichment Programs
2. Secondary Summer Learning and Enrichment Programs
3. Instructional Saturday Programs
4. Tutoring Services
5. Leveled Classroom Reading Libraries
6. Supplemental Curriculum for Students with Disabilities
7. Mental Health Curriculum Materials
8. SEL & DEI Survey and Data Collection
9. Professional Development
10. Safety and Security
11. Technology and work with BOCES

The remaining balance for the 2023-2024 school year is $9 million. As a result of the remaining balance, the Mount Vernon City School District is conducting stakeholder engagement surveys to help determine how it should potentially spend these remaining federal dollars to address student social emotional supports, learning, and ongoing COVID-19 recovery. These funds are designated for one-time or short-term expenditures to address the ongoing impact of the pandemic.
