2023-24 Fall Athletics
The Mount Vernon City School District is happy to announce an array of sports programs that will be offered in the beginning of the school year. All Mount Vernon City School District students in grades 7 through 12 please take notice that sign up time for Fall sports is now. The following sports are being offered:
Football, Varsity and JV teams
Girls Volleyball, Varsity, JV, and Modified (seventh and eighth graders)
Boys Volleyball
Boys Soccer, Varsity and JV
Girls Soccer, Varsity
Girls Tennis, Varsity
Boys Cross Country, Varsity
Girls Cross Country, Varsity
Cheerleading, Varsity and JV
Girls Swimming, Varsity
If you are interested in these sports, the season begins August 21, 2023, but you must sign up now to get medical clearance. Go to the District website, click on Departments, then Athletics, then Family ID, and then Fall Sports.
The start date for football will be August 19, 2023, and all other sports will begin on August 21, 2023.
Important: An updated physical is required in order to tryout. Therefore, please see your doctor or medical establishment as soon as possible and have them fill out the "Required NYS School Health Examination Form". This form is available at your school and can be found on the District's website following the prompts from "Athletics" under the Departments tab. Once the form has been completed by your health care provider, you can either bring it to your school's Health Office or upload it onto Family ID during registration which takes place from Sunday, July 2, 2023, to Saturday, September 30, 2023.

The Mount Vernon High School Knights football team is holding a fundraiser for their program. Mount Vernon Knights apparel will be available through Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Rebecca Turner Academy is holding a meet, greet and eat on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 5pm to 7pm. Light refreshments will be provided, and two $50 gift cards will be raffled off.

The City of Mount Vernon Youth Bureau and the Mount Vernon Community That Cares Coalition are hosting a National Family Day event at Edward Williams School on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 3:30pm. This event is only for families of students attending Edward Williams School.

The Mount Vernon City School District is offering subsidized Metro Cards for $145, half of the regular $290, for all grade 7-12 students. The Metro Card is only valid on Bee-Line buses, not MTA. Cards are valid for five months, September through January and February through June.

The Mount Vernon City School District will hold the second annual Unified Homecoming game on Saturday, October 7, 2023, when the Knights take on Yonkers. The Unified Pep Rally will be on Friday, October 6.

The Mount Vernon Adult Education Program will hold its Fall Registration for NEW students in person from Monday, September 18, 2023, to Wednesday, September 20 from 6pm to 8pm at 170 E. Lincoln Avenue, Mount Vernon, New York. Sign up to take classes toward earning your GED or ESL classes to learn English. Classes are free and you must be 21 years old to enroll.
All students interested in playing a Fall Sport must sign up through Athletics on the District webpage and attend a sports physical conference at their respective high school. Please note the following days to be cleared for athletic participation.
