Benjamin Turner Academy scholars receive awards for academic achievements and character

Scholars at Benjamin Turner Academy made their way down the red carpet in the gymnasium to receive their awards for their accomplishments during the first quarter on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Families gathered to cheer on and watch their loved ones' faces light up as they were recognized for their achievements and character.

“We’re always happy to see what they’ve achieved over the marking period,” said Samantha Donaldson, a parent to a first and second grader at BTA. “I love that the parents come out to support; I was a part of the PTA board last year, so we definitely love this type of family engagement. We had a great time; we love seeing the kids walk down the red carpet; that was nice. It seems like they had a good time being recognized.”

There were a multitude of awards and certificates handed out to students in every grade during the ceremony including Perfect Attendance Award, Academic Excellence Award, Certificate of Excellence, Certificate of Achievement, Certificate of Leadership, Outstanding Student Certificate, Most Improved Certificate, Certificate of Good Behavior and Certificate of Good Citizenship.

“I feel excited and happy,” said Timia Robinson, a second grader at BTA, about receiving an award for perfect attendance and leadership.

The school also recognized students who received academic honors during the first quarter of the school year. Students who earned honor roll had a grade point average of 85% - 89.99%, high honor roll is for students who obtained 90%-94.99% average, and Principal’s honor roll is reserved for students with the highest average of 95% and above.
