Swim at MVHS

Lanes 1-3 will be open for Community Swim

During the Fall — September through December — the pool will be open on the following dates for Community and Swim Outreach:

• Mondays: 9/9, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, 11/18, 11/25, 12/2, 12/9, 12/16, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. – Lap Lanes and Open Swim

• Wednesdays: 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. – Lap Lanes and Open Swim

• Saturdays: 9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 12/7, 12/14, 12/21, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Lap Lanes and Open Swim

Pool Set up:

Use of the pool will be on a first come first serve basis. We will have three lap lanes available, and the remaining lanes will be rented by Swim Outreach Inc., Lanes 4-6.

If Swim Outreach Inc. is not actively using their lanes during their rental, Mount Vernon Community Swim will fill into their empty lanes.

1. Swim caps are mandatory. Swim caps will be available for sale at the sign in table on the pool deck.

2. If we are experiencing busier than normal crowds (more than 25 people in the Lap lanes, exclusive of Swim Outreach Inc., a time limit will be enforced of 45 minutes per visitor.

Pool Fees:

Individual: $5.00 per visitor. A 10-visit pass is available at $35.00. (30% discount)

Family: $15.00 for 3 visitors up to 5 visitors. A 10-visit pass is available at $105.00. (30% discount)

All passes will expire one year from purchase date.

Swim Outreach, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that hopes to save and change lives by providing water safety education and swim lessons to the community. Our organization utilizes underutilized swimming pools for community swim instruction, specializing in communities underrepresented in aquatics such as Mount Vernon. Swim Outreach, Inc. was founded in 2017 by Travis Caeser and is located in the Bronx, NY.

After having limited access to pools during his childhood, Mr. Caeser decided that individuals from his community and similar communities should have the opportunity to learn how to swim and have access to do so. This was the impetus to form the Organization and spread swim awareness and swim instruction to children and other individuals within the inner-city. Swim Outreach is a 501c3 organization which has allowed us to rent pool space from organizations such as the NYC Department of Education, and the Mount Vernon City School District.

Swim Outreach, Inc. will rent the pool from the Mount Vernon High School to then start and operate a safe, insured independent swim program that will ultimately serve the Mount Vernon community year-round. Our organization believes we could use the foundation of Bronx Swim, a swim program we currently operate, and replicate where possible at MVHS.
