Welcome to MVCSD Registration

Student is entitled to admission if:

1.      The student resides in the school district; or

2.      A court orders the placement of a student with a person or a facility in the school district or (if pursuant to a court order) an entity such as Child Protective Services or the Department of Social Services places a child in the school district; or

3.      The student is defined as "Temporarily Housed" under the McKinney-Vento law {42 U.S.C. 11302} regardless of the residence of the student, parent or legal guardian. Please complete the Application to Determine McKinney -Vento Eligibility and the STAC-202 Form.

All registration documents must be provided in English. Translated documents must be notarized to certify their accuracy and be accompanied by the original document.  If you need assistance, please contact the Registrar at  (914) 358-2380 during business hours or leave a message and a representative will be back in touch with you the next business day. 

Residents must have the following proof of residency:

One of the following:

• Current mortgage statement
• Current property tax bill
• Current lease agreement
• Co-Op Certificate of Stock
• Signed & Notarized Affidavit of Property Owner/Landlord
• STAC-202 / Designation of School District of Attendance for a Homeless Child

One of the following documents (must be within 2 months with CURRENT address):

• Current pay stubs
• Income tax form(s)
• Current utility bill (power company i.e., Con Edison, cable, water bill)
• Mount Vernon Public Library Membership document (MVPL user information sheet with library logo)
• Current Voter registration document
• State or other government-issued identification (NOT driver's license) - Address thereon must be current if used as proof of residency.
• Current documents issued by federal, state, or local agencies (for instance, local social services agency, Federal Office of Refugee Resettlement)
• Current evidence of custody of the child/children, including, but not limited to judicial custody orders or guardianship papers.

*Pursuant to a July 25, 2017 Board of Education resolution, the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services is authorized to make determinations as to student residency, as set forth in the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, 8 N.Y.C.R.R. §100.2(y).

1.      A photo ID of the student's parent/legal guardian (e.g. Passport, State ID, or Employment ID)

2.      Proof of Age: Evidence of a student's age shall be obtained by one of the following:

• An original or certified transcript of a birth certificate or record of baptism (including an original or certified transcript of a foreign birth certificate or record of baptism) giving the date of birth; or
• Passport (including foreign passport) giving the date of birth.

Where the above are not available , the School District may consider certain other documents/records in existence two years or more to determine age. One or more of these documents may be necessary. The documents are the following:

• Official driver's license
• State or other government issued identification
• School photo identification with date of birth
• Consulate identification card
• Hospital or health records
• Military dependent identification card
• Documents issued by federal, state or local agencies (for instance, local social services agency, federal Office of Refugee Resettlement)
• Court orders or other court -issued documents
• Native American trial document
• Records from non-profit international aid agencies and voluntary agencies

3.      Record of immunizations.

The Mount Vernon City School District encourages all families to make appointments to see their physicians or healthcare providers for annual physical exams. Please also review school vaccination requirements to ensure your child's vaccinations are up to date. There is no opt out or exemption for immunizations in the State of New York, except for medical exemptions.
