This year at Mandela our art scholars will be engaging with creative activities, many based on famous artists, and projects inspired by different cultures. They will learn to appreciate the beauty in the world around them with a new perspective when they see a scene in nature, an interesting architectural building, or sculpture, while building basic drawing skills. As a seventh grader told me one morning, "Art has changed me."
The art program began in January and I am honored to be part of the team of educators Mandela.
Students should bring crayons, safety scissors and glue sticks to class in an easy to carry pencil case type container or bag. Older classes, 4 to 7 need to bring their own watercolor kits labeled with a sharpie, and white sketch pad paper if possible. This will enhance your child's enjoyment and success in the program.
