Fundraiser: COVID-19 Digital Learning Initiative
GIVE THE GIFT OF EDUCATION
As we navigate through these challenging and uncertain times, the Mount Vernon Educational Foundation, Inc. seeks your support to ensure the continued education of Mount Vernon’s school children. School campuses may be closed, but the faculty and staff of the Mount Vernon City School District are keeping learning alive in a virtual environment. The success of the District’s online learning program is predicated on every student having access to a computer. To that end, over 300 laptops have already been distributed district-wide, meeting approximately half of our student-need.
Our colleagues in the school district are committed to meeting 100% of the computing needs of our children. The Mount Vernon Educational Foundation has partnered with the school district to help reach that goal. The Foundation has launched the Virtual Education Campaign and is committed to raising $30,000 to purchase an additional 100 laptops. Will you join us? Together we can fill the gap.
Every gift, no matter the size, will have an immediate impact on a child’s ability to learn in this new virtual environment. Now, more than ever, it is critical that our children have the resources they need to continue their education. Thank you for giving what you can.

ABOUT OUR ONLINE LEARNING PROGRAM
As a front runner in individualized learning, MVCSD has focused on the flexibility and diversity of content that the digital world can provide.
The District has been forging partnerships with content partners and piloting e-learning projects for 4 years. Many classrooms have been utilizing these platforms for augmented learning.
As a result, the District was able to jump-start the transition to e-learning, necessitated by COVID-19, with just a few days of teacher training. Our online learning management tool, Schoology, has been up and running for 3 years. Its rich content library includes a plethora of valuable educational resources reflecting a partnership with some of the best organizations in the field.
Additionally in the build-out of our e-learning program, the District thanks generous companies like Spectrum, Altice and Optimum for offering free internet to our students to help remove a key barrier to digital learning.
