Megan's Law

  • Family Safety Pursuant to Megan’s Law, we have been notified by the Mount Vernon Police Department that several Level 2 and Level 3 Sex Offenders are residing within the community of Mount Vernon, New York.  It is a part of our District Policy to notify our community of these alerts, including building principals, teachers, security personnel, custodians, coaches, bus drivers and supervisors of school-related programs.
    Several of the offenders are classified as Level Two and are considered to pose a moderate risk of a repeat offense.  There are also Level Three offenders in this report, who are classified as having a higher risk of re-offending.
    Further information on these offenders is available on the New York State Sex Offender Registry website.  Here are three ways to obtain this information:
    1. The Division of Criminal Justice Services (Division) operates a telephone number (800-262-3257) which the public can call to determine if someone is on the Registry.
    2. The Division maintains a subdirectory of level two and three sex offenders which can be accessed by visiting the SORA Division website at

    If you observe any suspicious individual or activity, please be sure to inform the police immediately at 9-1-1.
