• Dear Parents and or Guardian ,                                                                                              September 24,2018

I anticipate a wonderful year and look forward to working with you to support your child during this very important school year. I would like to share the following information to help you understand the structure of Mrs. Strozza resource room or as Consultant teacher . While I have common goals for resource room, the activities and instruction used for each of the students is based upon their IEP and developed to address their needs and learning styles.

Goal: The goal of the program is to help students to become confident, optimistic, independent learners. It is designed to help students understand their learning style, support their academic growth and develop skills and strategies which will lead to personal success. The major focus of our class period is skill development, including instructional activities and enrichment.

Our Daily Routines: I establish daily routines to support student growth in areas outlined in their Individualized Education Plans. In addition, resource room classes will direct, explicit instruction in language arts and mathematics. Approximately 25-30 minutes of each resource room period will include lessons, instruction and practice in these areas. I will use the remaining time in class to support student success through a variety of activities which may include:

                   Checking of student agendas

                   Assisting with organization of materials

                   Planning for long term assignments

Review and Reinforcement of content material

                   Pre-teaching/Re-teaching of vocabulary and concepts

                   Helping with difficult assignments

                   Test Preparation

                   Support with time management

Introduction and Development of learning strategies

Our Classroom Environment: All students need to feel comfortable, confident and valued in order to grow. I provide students with an atmosphere of acceptance where they can build upon their strengths, develop advocacy skills and take academic risks.

Thank you for your support. I encourage close communication and encourage you to contact us with any questions, concerns or updates you may have. I look forward to meeting you and would be happy to speak with you at any time. I can be reached through either email or phone communication. I can be reached by email astrozza@mtvernoncsd.org.
