MVCSD ARP-ESSER III, CARES Act Funds and CRRSA ESSER II Funds Stakeholder Survey

The American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ARP-ESSER II) provided over $9 billion to New York State. The Mount Vernon City School District received $33.5 million. To date, the funds were used to: 1. Fund elementary/middle school summer learning and enrichment programs 2. Secondary summer learning and enrichment programs 3. Instructional Saturday programs 4. Tutoring services 5. Leveled classroom reading libraries 6. Supplemental curriculum for students with disabilities 7. Mental health curriculum materials 8. SEL & DEI survey and data collection 9. Professional development 10. Safety and security 11. Technology and work with BOCES The remaining balance for the 2023-2024 school year is $9 million dollars. As a result of the remaining balance, the Mount Vernon City School District is conducting stakeholder engagement surveys to help determine how it should potentially spend these remaining federal dollars to address student social emotional supports, learning, and ongoing COVID-19 recovery. These funds are designated for one-time or short-term expenditures to address the ongoing impact of the pandemic.
