Message from the Principal

  • Greetings BTMS Families,

The faculty and staff of Benjamin Turner Middle School welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year! We are excited to partner more closely with you this school year, as we embark on this year’s journey to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of our scholars. Welcome to the class of 2025, we look forward to meeting all of you and your families.

We are excited to return to five days of in-person instruction in the building. I want to assure you that we are taking precautionary measures in all aspects to create a safe learning environment. We will continue to implement mitigation measures as established by the CDC. This will include the requirement for all students to wear masks while indoors and on the buses, social distancing where practicable, and regular handwashing and access to hand sanitizers.

This year we will renew our commitment to excellence in all that we do. We will provide opportunities for students to address academic deficiencies, build numeracy and literacy skills, and build on the technology skills that they developed last year. A major initiative for this year is to address the concern of student literacy through the Balanced Literacy approach.

I look forward to working collectively as a family to ensure that our scholars are provided with the best learning experience possible as we prepare them to be responsible citizens who recognize their value as members of the global community. Students will have opportunities to work on community projects and in so doing, build their relational capacity among themselves and with the adults around them.

I am excited about building relationships with all of you throughout this year. Please join the PTA and become active members of the BTMS family. It is going to be an amazing year!

We are the Lions PRIDE. We ROAR!
