A.B. Davis Middle School is a middle school consisting of 850 students, 75 teachers, five administrators, four counselors, a psychologist, social worker and 30 support staff members composed of secretaries, safety officers, cafeteria workers, and custodians.  A. B. Davis Middle School focuses on the personal development of each child.

We celebrate diversity, tolerance, cooperation and respect for each other. The members of our middle school believe that by focusing on decision-making skills and by fostering relationships with the community, students will develop behaviors compatible with societal standards. By fostering student involvement with the world of work and nurturing relationships with community-based working adults, students will develop career awareness and respect for the business community, especially walking up Gramatan Avenue (Fourth Avenue) at dismissal time.
Our mission is to provide all students with a quality education which will enable them to meet and exceed the New York Standards and to be inspired to be life-long learners. Our school floor plan is structured into four core areas and specials: Ground Floor - Art, Music, Health, Physical Education1st Floor - Social Studies, 2nd Floor - Mathematics, 3rd Floor - English Language Arts, 4th Floor - Technology and Foreign Languages (Spanish and French). Science Labs are on each floor at the end of the hall.  Each floor has an Assistant Principal as the educational leader, a guidance counselor, and two safety officers.
This year our emphasis is on developing a comprehensive Conflict Resolution/Peer Mediation Program. Thus far, workshops have been presented to the faculty and students. We are now in the process of training additional peer mediators. Zero tolerance is the cornerstone of our building and we have implemented a discipline code as a contract between the parents and the school. While we believe that all students should reach their educational potential, the five assessments are a critical part of our educational program. Each department has developed strategies to accomplish this goal and they include pre- and post practice exams, mastery of all the skills found on each of the exams, and developing model lesson plans for teachers in Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and Technology.

This year we are introducing an incentive program and an enrichment program. The Enrichment Program is designed to provide an alternative education for students who would benefit from a non-traditional setting. It will offer students an innovative curriculum which will include major academic subjects, plus motivational activities.
Emphasis has also been placed on the arts at A.B. Davis. In addition to having an excellent art and music program, we are involved in the GEM Program (Girls only) and CSI and Sports and Arts After-School Programs.
Last, but certainly not least, we feel parents are an important component to education and this year we have parent membership working with teachers and students and they include: Curriculum, Supervision, Mentoring and Fundraising.
