Honor Roll Criteria

Proposed Middle and High Schools Honor Roll Criteria for the 2011-2012 School Year

Secondary School Honor Rolls

The district shall maintain three honor rolls. All courses that receive a numeric grade will contribute to the honor roll calculation based on their weights and the district’s current 4.0 grading scale. This will be reflected on the child's report card  as quarterly weighted average which is calculated using an average of all numberic grades from that marking period.

Please note: quarterly weighted average is calculated differently from the child's final transcript GPA which is based on the student's final average for the course and includes credits earned as a factor in the calculation.  Honor rolls do not include credits as a factor since with the exception of the last marking period for that course, credits have not been earned at the time of the report card.

Pass Fail courses will not contribute to the honor roll criteria. Pass Fail courses are typically inclusive of courses such as AIS, Resource and potentially other intervention based courses.  Students shall qualify for no more than one honor roll in a specific marking period.

Principal Honor Roll: Students who maintain a quarterly weighted average of 3.91 or better throughout the period and who have no numeric grades less than a 70 shall qualify for this honor roll.

High Honor Roll Students who maintain a quarterly weighted average  between 3.5 and 3.909 throughout the period and who have no numeric grades less than a 70 shall qualify for this honor roll.

Honor Roll Students who maintain a quarterly weighted average between 3.0 and 3.499 throughout the period and who have no numeric grades less than a 70 shall qualify for this honor roll.

If you have further questions on student report cards and Honor Roll status, please contact your child's teacher or guidance councilor
